Delton support RasGas and Qatargas
RasGas (Now part of Qatargas)
Delton have worked with RasGas since 2006.
Delton’s initial contract was to provide RasGas with a team of Technical Writers to write operating manuals and operating procedures for LNG Train 5 and update operating manuals and operating procedures for LNG train 4.
The contract expanded to include training and Delton had a team of 30 people on site at Ras Laffan to write training material and provide training services to RasGas employees.
Training included technical LNG on the job training, HSE training, offshore training, pipeline operations training, competency training and assessor and verifier training.
The initial contract was re-tendered in 2009 and then again in 2013, with Delton writing all the operating manuals for LNG Train 6, Train 7, AKG 1 and 2, the Barzan project, and helium 1, 2 and 3.
Delton also secured a call off contract to supply RasGas with senior consultant personnel in 2014, covering over 180 senior roles, including subsea pipeline support, pipeline construction teams, commissioning teams, trainers, HSE consultants, technical advisors and senior pipeline consultants.
Barzan offshore gas field development details
The offshore element of the project involves the installation of three wellhead platforms (WHPs), a living quarters platform, 300km of subsea pipelines and 100km of subsea cables to convey gas to a new gas processing plant at Ras Laffan Industrial City and drilling of 30 wells.
The onshore facilities comprise a gas processing unit, a sulphur recovery unit to remove impurities from the natural gas, and a natural gas liquids (NGL) recovery unit, which will produce methane, ethane, propane, butane and condensate. Ethane produced from the plant will be used as a feedstock for the growing Qatari petrochemical industry.
Delton supplied consultants and project managers to the onshore and offshore projects and also to JGC in Japan covering disciplines such as Subsea pipeline operations and construction, Subsea umbilical’s and risers, offshore topsides construction management and HSE management services.
Al Khaleej Gas (AKG 1 and AKG 2) domestic gas pipeline
For pipeline sales gas to the domestic market, RasGas also operates the Al Khaleej Gas Projects, AKG-1 and AKG-2 supplying approximately 2.0 billion standard cubic feet (Bscf) of sales gas per day to the Qatari market to meet growing demand for energy at power stations and downstream industries.
Delton provided Senior Pipeline consultants for AKG 1 and AKG 2, technical and HSE procedure writers, technical trainers and HSE trainers.
RasGas Safety Training Centre
Due to the successful projects listed above, Delton were invited to tender for a Safety Training Consultancy Project for the RasGas Safety Training Centre at Ras Laffan.
Initially the contract was to write a suite of 240 safety training modules and deliver the training to RasGas staff.
The project then went on to include the updating of all RasGas in house HSE training courses, safety procedures and policies for all onshore and offshore assets.
